First time I saw West Ham was at Bristol City when Bristol City were in the top flight, 1~1, 1976.

Mashed, no Cornwall have never had a league club, Truro City were racing up the pyramid for a few years but they’ve stalled now.

Where’s the biggest place with the worse club and/or lowest attendances?

Bumming

Could be argued that Wakefield and Poole are both in the metro areas of Leeds and Bournemouth, and so part of their catchment areas.

There are no league clubs in Cornwall, don't think there ever has been, either.

Bristol is the 5th biggest city in England and has never had a team in the top division.

Before I read this I was thinking of responding with Macclesfield. I'm outside the stadium right this second, the gym I go to is at the stadium. They are getting 4k fans a game at the moment, with is the max Moss Lane can hold.

Take Leeds for instance, a population of 800,000, 3rd largest city in uk,one football club.Where as Sheffield, population 700,000, 4th largest city uk,two football clubs.

Guingamp comes to mind. 13 years in Ligue 1 and a population of 7,000 according to wiki.

El Scorchio 2:34 Fri May 13

Yeah that's what I'm on about.

Apparently Yeovil is like that, almost everyone there supports them, although their attendance/population ratio isn't that high.

We're kind of the polar opposite, you get us absolutely everywhere.

Re: Most "local" support... clubs/towns with massive attendance to population ratio?
I think you have to consider these

1. The diaspora of the town who left. I know a Burnley supporter who lives in Chester who goes home and away. Obvs, all clubs have this. West Ham’s is spread far and wide.

2. The glory hunting supporters who dont live in the town or city but do go occasionally or even frequently.

3. The day trippers.

Fervent local support depends on a lot if factors but non migrant communities might be a factor. Out or in.

My 2 old stomping grounds that were far apart but very West Ham - Canning Town and Grays. You prob see more West Ham colours in Grays than most places in my humble opinion

I always thought that Blackburn must have a high attendance/population ratio?

Can't imagine anyone from far outside Blackburn supporting them, surrounded as it is by so many other big
towns/teams?

Lens in Ligue 1 - population 31000, probably had about that in the stadium when we visited. Great fans, and nice away trip.
